I spent months working 12 hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with the baby on my back and the others playing into the playpen. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it was far from completed. In this undertaking I had planned to spend a considerable amount of money and spend time looking for my dream house. To keep the budget in check, I started going to estate sales with my three sons to find jewels in the rough. We would go from the week of Thursday through Saturday at garage sales and estate sales buying brand new furniture. Then I repainted and smoothed in the driveway throughout the week. The furniture looked like this... and that's the place I discovered my love for restoring. It didn't matter if our house had already been furnished. I had a stand at the local market and also sold items there. In the end, I had lots of pieces, I didn't know what to do and I outgrew my space. Then I began hosting open houses at my house where over 1 000 people could visit in one weekend, and purchase anything they wanted on the first floor. Growing Days was created in this house. The business I was running was growing and my family was also growing. I was trying to find that perfect balance of having starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora joined us in 2013 to be our fourth baby. While I was pleased with the direction my business took, I felt like I was in need of some time off. I got away from vintage furniture to spend more quality time with my family. It was just what I required. After a while, without a phone, it began to ring. The people who called me were asking for help with their interior decorating and home renovations. They had mainly attended my house during the open houses to purchase furniture. I started taking on some customers one by one taking my time however it wasn't for long to have numerous accounts and had the complete business of home remodeling. There is a good chance that I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my business was going to be part of a forthcoming television show in the DIY Network. As I look back on this situation and think about it, I laugh.
